Willie Brown got his wish, I guess. Now that there is this valet stand right outside of Locanda, parking in the Mission and making your 8:30 reservation has never been easier! Unless, that is, you ride a bike. And then your ride down Valencia, supposedly the preferred biking street in the Mission, just became a hell of a lot scarier. This picture was taken on a Wednesday night just after nightfall, so maybe 6 or 7 pm. There were approximately 6 cars queued up, waiting to talk to the valet attendant. Meanwhile, those of us travelling by bicycle were forced into the street to fend for ourselves against errant taxis and lost drivers. I guess it wouldn’t be so annoying if the city hadn’t striped Valencia and told us it was the safe alternative to Mission. I can’t imagine what this street looks like at 7 on a Friday if it’s this bad midweek. Good luck out there, bikers.
